Balow doesn’t qualify for State final

GRAND BLANC — Drew Balow was the only member of the Grand Blanc Boys Cross Country Team to run at the Regional Meet held at White Pines Middle School in Saginaw, Oct. 31 (10-31-20). He was an Individual Regional Qualifier. Drew finished 23rd overall running 17:15.16. He did not qualify to advance to the State final meet next weekend at Michigan International Speedway. The top three teams and next seven individuals move on to the State Finals.

GBHS girl’s cross-country team moves on to State Finals

GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc Girls Cross Country team scored big this weekend with a win in the Region 2, Division 1 Regional Meet held Oct. 31, at White Pines Middle School in Saginaw. The temperature was frigid, but the girls heated up the course. The Lady Bobcats dominated the competition, scoring an impressive 44 points. Fenton and H.H. Dow rounded out the top 3 teams, scoring 75 and 92 points respectively.

Leading the team was Regional Champion Lola Thomas, in a time of 18:23. Sophia Thomas finished 2nd in 18:42. The girls were joined by Samantha Shaver (8th, 19:45), Lydia Minzey (11th, 19:56), Kennedy Kuhlmann (28th, 20:38), Samantha Wogaman (49th, 21:19), and Maya Youngs (61st, 21:59).

With the win, the team is now headed to the MHSAA Division 1 State Finals, to be held at the Michigan International Speedway on Friday, Nov. 6.
