Janice Rhea (Hyatt) Adams

JANICE RHEA (HYATT) ADAMS, 87, of Davison, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 17, 2021. A private family ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, where Janice was laid to rest next to her husband, Dr. Albert Claude Adams, M.D., in Pine Grove Cemetery, Davison, MI.

Janice was born on October 12, 1933 to Nelson and Mary Hyatt. She was raised in the thumb of Michigan and various other cities in the state. Eventually, her family settled in Davison when she was older. Janice was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1951, where she met and fell in love with Albert Claude Adams. They were married for 48 years until the death of Dr. Adams on December 5, 1999. Janice worked as a beautician while her husband went to college and medical school. They had four children. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother— always encouraging them to follow their dreams. She loved to sing and play her organ and instilled the love of music in her children and grandchildren. Janice loved Jesus with all of her heart and was very involved in church ministry. She and her husband did mission work for years in Haiti. Janice led the choir, taught Sunday School, opened her home for prayer meetings and Bible studies. She had such an amazing gift of hospitality. Reading was a passion of hers! She studied the Bible, Christian literature, read novels and travel books for upcoming trips to the many places in the world she visited. Janice always had a book in her hand! She also had a flare for design—whether it was in her garden or home, or someone else’s. She took joy in decorating and had a way of making everything beautiful and elegant. Being near water was important to her; hearing the sounds and gazing at its beauty brought her great enjoyment. She had a creek that ran behind her house, had a cottage on Lake Huron, and had many adventures boating the Great Lakes with her husband on their boat, the “Al’s Ark”.

Janice is survived by her son Marc’s wife, Clare Adams of New Orleans, LA; her daughter, Laurel Sue (Adams) Klein and her husband, David Klein of Gallatin, TN; her son, Eric Troy Adams (Roxana Bryan) of Arleta, CA; her daughter, Cynthia Jane Adams of Davison, MI; her grandchildren, Natalie (Klein) Hudson and her husband, Daniel Hudson, Alissa Klein, Gideon Klein, Gabriel Klein and her great-granddaughter, Laurel Scarlett Hudson, all from Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Mary Hyatt; her husband, Albert Claude Adams, M.D.; her eldest son, Marc Nelson Adams; three brothers and two sisters.

Mother, you were so loved and will be greatly missed! What comfort there is to know that you are in the loving arms of Jesus and that you are rejoicing with your family and friends that have gone before.

“I’ll meet you in the morning by the bright riverside. When all sorrows have drifted away. I’ll be standing at the portals when the gates open wide, at the close of life’s long dreary day. I’ll meet you in the morning with a “How do you do?” And we’ll sit down by the river, with rapture, old acquaintance renewed. You’ll know me in the morning by the smile that I wear, when I meet you in the morning, in the city that is built four square.”
