Jeepers Creekers to bring family-friendly fall fun to downtown Swartz Creek on Oct. 9

SWARTZ CREEK — The 4th annual Jeepers Creekers fall festival will bring tons of family-friendly fun and frivolity to the streets of downtown Swartz Creek on Saturday, Oct. 9.

The merriment begins at 10 a.m. when costumed runners make their way through downtown and Winchester Village for the 5K fun run. Runners who register by today will get a commemorative Jeepers Creekers T-shirt.

Drivers are asked to be extra vigilant as the 5K route crosses Miller Road at two crosswalks.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., vendors will sell all kinds of home-made goods at the Cottage Market in Holland Square. More than 30 vendors will bring a wide variety of merchandise, including jams, baked goods, candles, jewelry, Halloween décor, dog treats, wreaths, skin care products and much more.

Some food trucks also will be on site.

The trunk-or-treat will begin at 5 p.m. More than 30 businesses, organizations and individuals have signed up to decorate their vehicles and hand out candy.

Miller Road will be closed between Morrish Road and Fortino Drive in the afternoon until after the trunk-or-treat, so travelers are advised to plan their routes accordingly.

Additional attractions include a bounce house thanks to Ford’s Party Rental, face painting and crafts thanks to the Swartz Creek Area Art Guild, balloon artist Steve Schniers thanks to The Shirt Traveler, and a selfie station thanks to The Shirt Traveler and local resident Matt Chittick who built the stand for the backdrop.

To wind down the evening, a family-friendly, Halloween-themed movie will be shown on the big, inflatable screen at Holland Square, thanks to the Swartz Creek Area Firefighters, Inc.

The Jeepers Creekers Committee would like to recognize sponsors LPL Financial, Waddill Auto, Atomic Swan Films, Go Mobile Therapy, Gaines Township Fire Department, The Shirt Traveler, Creek Nutrition, Sign Gypsies, Adoption & Foster Care Specialists Inc., and Thirty-One Gifts.

Additional thanks go out to Cornerstone Baptist Church for providing volunteers for the 5K, and Biggby Coffee for providing refreshments for the runners.

The planning committee also needs donations for the prize baskets for the trunk-or-treat. To donate an item, please email lrocha@mihomepaper.com or shirts@shirttraveler.com.
