ATLAS TWP. — A familiar face could return to the Atlas Township Board of Trustees, but that decision won’t come until November.
Shirley Kautman-Jones, who served as township supervisor from 2008 to 2016, was leading incumbent Supervisor Teresa L. Onica in the Republican primary as of press time.
Kautman-Jones, whom Onica defeated in the 2016 election, had tallied 824 votes to Onica’s 670.
Republican Daniel Glomson was trailing in the race for supervisor with 152 of the 1,646 votes cast.
The top vote-getter will face Democrat Justin D. Folts in the general election.
There were 66 undervotes, seven overvotes and 162 invalid votes.
In the treasurer’s race, incumbent Katherine M. Vick had garnered 854 votes to challenger Angela M. Grogan’s 640 in the Republican primary.
With no Democrats on the November ballot, it appears Vick will retain her seat on the board.
There were 1,494 votes cast with 221 undervotes, two overvotes and 164 invalid votes plus two write-ins.
Treasurer Ann Marie Moore is unopposed in her bid for re-election.
In the race for two trustee seats, incumbent Barry M. June was in the lead with 940 votes, followed by incumbent Patrick Major with 844, and challenger Fred Forys with 788 of 2,572 votes cast. There were 863 undervotes, no overvotes and 177 invalid votes, plus three write-ins.
With no Democratic challengers, the results of the primary will determine who will fill the trustee posts.
