Kayla Run returns for 14th consecutive year

GOODRICH – The Kayla O’Mara Memorial Road Race is back once again for its 14th edition on Saturday, Aug. 3, beginning at Goodrich High School.

The 5k run/walk will start at 8 a.m. and the ½ mile fun run/walk will follow at 9 a.m.

The 5k price is $15 through June 30 and $20 through race day with a $10 race shirt available while supplies last. The ½ mile fun run is $5 with a youth shirt if still available and to upgrade to an adult shirt will be an added $5. All finishers will receive a medal.

Late registration and packet pickup will be available at Goodrich High on Aug. 2 from 4-7 p.m. and Aug. 3 from 6:45 a.m.-7:45 a.m. ½ mile bibs and shirts are up for grabs until 8:30 a.m.

Awards will be handed out to the top three in each age group and a post-race party will include fruit, pizza, frozen treats among other things. A physical therapy zone will also be on site to help with pre-race stretching and RockTape.

The course goes throughout the village of Goodrich and the terrain includes “Rolling hills, paved and dirt roads with a fast finish on the track.” The fun run is not a timed race, which includes the last ½ mile of the 5k route. The fun run also finishes on the track.
