Knights of Columbus holds successful Tootsie Roll Drive

FLUSHING — The Flushing Knights of Columbus Council 8489 would like to thank the Flushing community for its support of our annual Tootsie Roll Drive, which was held on Palm Sunday weekend on March 26, 27 and 28. Funds from this drive go to help support people with intellectual disabilities.

Council 8489 Grand Knight Jacob Smith said: “This is a great opportunity for our members to give back to those less fortunate.”

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, last year’s drive was cancelled. Although COVID is still a challenge, the Knights moved forward with this year’s event. This was a banner year for the council, with total collections of just under $5,000.

The Knights of Columbus offer a sincere thanks to each of you that donated and helped to make this event a success, including Doug Huber, who has chaired this event for 24 years. — Submitted by the Flushing Knights of Columbus Council 8489
