Knights plan bottle drive, food collection


SWARTZ CREEK — The Knights of Columbus Swartz Creek Council 6694 will have a can and bottle drive from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 12, in the rear parking lot at St. Mary Queen of Angels, 4413 Morrish Road.

Proceeds will benefit Michigan seminarians.

To make the collection as safe and successful as possible, please place returnable cans and bottles in the trunk or truck bed of your vehicle, remain in your vehicle – collection staff will remove items, and observe social distancing guidelines.

The Knights also will sponsor a drive-by food drive from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the Swartz Creek Community Food Basket at the United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Road. The collection will take place at Door 6 at the back of the church, cars should pull up parallel to the sidewalk.

Donors are asked to follow the guidelines listed above.

The Food Basket is a program coordinated by the United Methodist Church, St. Mary Queen of Angels and Messiah Lutheran Church. It serves about 250 families monthly.

Monetary donations and Meijer or Kroger gift cards also are accepted. — L.R.
