Knights to collect food, other donations for Food Basket

SWARTZ CREEK — Knights of Columbus Council 6694 will sponsor a drive-by food drive from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the Swartz Creek Community Food Basket.

The food pantry is located at the United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Road.

To make the collection as safe and successful as possible, the Knights of Columbus ask that donors adhere to the following guidelines:

• Place food donations in the trunk or truck bed of your vehicle

• Remain in your vehicle; collection staff will remove the items

• Observe social distancing guidelines

The Community Food Basket welcomes and appreciates all donations but is in most need of hardy produce (such as apples, potatoes, oranges and onions), cereal, Hamburger Helper, canned meat, soup, bread, deodorant, toothpaste and laundry pods.

Other items always needed are tuna, macaroni and cheese, canned vegetables and fruit, spaghetti and sauce, peanut butter, canned chili, sloppy Joe mix, baked beans, boxed sweets, toothbrushes and toilet paper.

Monetary donations and Meijer and Kroger gift cards also are accepted and greatly appreciated. — L.R.
