YPSILANTI – A scary, icy road trip Saturday didn’t rattle the Lady Cavs when they defeated River Rouge at Ypsilanti. Coach Lance Belil said the team passed 20 vehicles in ditches, including a county plow truck.

Once safely off the road, the Lady Cavs got down to business right away outscoring River Rouge 19-7 in the first and 18-9 in the second for the 37-16 half-time lead. Carman- Ainsworth outscored River Rouge 16-6 in the third and was finally able to get the upper hand 17-14 in the fourth.

Destiny Strother poured in 26 points and Areyana Harrison put up 10 points and eight rebounds.

Carman-Ainsworth hosts Grand Blanc for their first league clash Friday. This is Grand Blanc’s first season as a member of the Saginaw Valley League-Blue.
