FLINT TWP. — The Carman- Ainsworth girls’ soccer team edged out Flint Kearsley, 3-2, on Monday to open the season.
Shelby Marsh toed in two goals, Monica Townsend burned the net once and Carman- Ainsworth scored the game-winner at the 22-minute mark in the second half. Amber Richard had two assists and Courtney Glinka one.
“The girls played well and took over in my absence last week when I had a death in the family,” said coach Jessyca Matthews. “They had put in all the hard work while I was away and it showed.”
The Cavs are back in action after Spring Break on April 10 at Lapeer East. — L.P.
