Lady Cavs ready for challenge

The Carman-Ainsworth girls’ golf team enters its 2018 campaign without any losses to its team from a season ago. Though still relatively inexperienced at the varsity level, the Lady Cavs are back and motivated to improve each time they step out onto the course.

Payton Dixon, Jamie Arnold, Michaela Hitchcock and Serenity Cooper all return to make up this season’s varsity squad, coached by second-year varsity coach Matt Young. Young mentioned his team can be best described as “fun, hard-working and inexperienced.”

“Our biggest challenge this year is building confidence,” said Young. “It’s tough playing against girls that have more experience and have been playing for years, but our girls are up for the challenge. The girls are working hard to get some rounds under their belts and will make a lot of progress quickly.”

The team’s first meet of the season was yesterday following press deadlines at the Fortress with their next match coming Monday at Flint Golf Club. – A.V.
