Pelio School of Dance takes top honors in “A Taste of Market Day”

— Pelio School of Dance, 6255 Torrey Rd., recently garnered top sales nationally for the 2009 school year for Market Day Corporation, naming the dance school the winner in the “A Taste of Market Day” fundraiser.

The funds garnered through the school’s participation in the fundraiser were used to offset production costs for dance families, and many students from the dance school participated in the fundraiser. Market Day Corporation is a national, specialty food service extending into seven states.

On May 4, Pelio School of Dance held its annual Spring Dance Production at The Whiting, marking the 36th anniversary of the school’s spring productions. The May 4 production featured several numbers, including Sweet Shoppe Ballet, Ballet De Espana, At the 50s Drive-In Diner, We Love The Red, White & Blue and Hip Hop To The Top.

For more than 70 years, Pelio School of Dance has offered classical dance training. The dance school is currently directed by Lisa Pelio, daughter of founder Lena Pelio. Dance students come from all over Southeast Michigan, including Fenton, Grand Blanc, Linden, Holly, Swartz Creek, Grand Blanc, Goodrich and other towns in Genesee, Oakland, Livingston, Lapeer, Saginaw, Gratiot and Shiawassee counties.
