Library to celebrate March is Reading Month with mall rally

FLINT TWP. — The Genesee District Library will kick off National March is Reading Month with a Rockin’ Reading Rally at the Genesee Valley Mall Center Court on March 4 from noon to 1:30 p.m. This is a free, family-friendly event.

At noon, The Storytellers will jump-start the fun with stories, hands-on playtime with exotic musical instruments, tunes from around the world and a charming, funny musical skit.

At 1 p.m. children can head down to the Genesee Valley Center Library in the Sears Wing for a free book and a snack.

“Reading is at the heart of all learning,” said Katie Badgley, Genesee District Library Children’s Librarian. “Children who are read to have a larger vocabulary and better language skills when they start school — that’s a good reason to celebrate reading!”
