GENESEE COUNTY – Tickets are now on sale for the Genesee District Library’s 17th Annual Black History Month Brunch. The brunch will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 3 at the Genesys Conference & Banquet Center in Grand Blanc, according to a press release.
The event will feature the a cappella group Linkin’ Bridge, a finalist in Season 11 of America’s Got Talent. Linkin’ Bridge hails from the west side of Louisville, Kentucky and is known for warm harmonies and emotional performances.
During the brunch, the Genesee District Library will recognize three individuals with the Award of Excellence for their achievements, contributions and service. The honorees include Pastor Jeffery Hawkins, Mr. Charles “Chuckii” Montgomery, Jr. and Mr. Sam Wells. The event will also recognize Communities First, Inc. with the Partner in Progress Award.
Matt Franklin of WJRT ABC12 will emcee the event, and sponsors include Hamilton Heath Network, Sylvia and Roosevelt Keys, WJRT ABC12 and WDZZ 92.7.
Part of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Genesee District Library’s Summer Reading Challenge for kids and teens, which engages over 6,000 people each summer.
