FLINT TWP. — Book lovers of all ages now have access to a free community library in Flint Township.

Kacey Vanderkaar, a writer and book coach, recently opened a Little Free Library outside her home on Red Barn Road in the Miller Road Farms neighborhood off Miller Road. The library is registered with the worldwide Little Free Library book exchange program, which encourages individuals to set up non-profit library book stands or boxes in their communities.

Vanderkaar said that she and her family are hoping to bring the community together to share the love of reading.

“We’re excited to have people come by and pick up a book,” she said. “It’s a great way for kids to get their hands on books and just a great resource for people who can’t afford to go to the bookstore.”

The Little Free Library is stocked with a wide variety of genres, including children’s books, fiction and nonfiction titles. There are no due dates or return policies, but people who take a book from the library are encouraged to leave a title of their own for someone else to read. — B.G.
