FLINT TWP. — It promises to be a day of frights, fun and trick of treating at the Little Monsters Halloween Bash at Genesee Valley Center, Oct. 27.
The spooky Halloween event is the combined efforts of Genesee County 911, the Genesee District Library, Genesee Valley Center and Flint Township’s Downtown Development Authority.
The Genesee County 911 will hold a Halloween Trunk or Treat Spooky Trail, Oct. 27 from 12-4 p.m. at the Genesee Valley Center, 3341 S. Linden Rd. The event will take place between Bar Louie and Barnes and Noble. The event is free, safe and will have family fun for all.
Also that day at the Genesee Valley Center, the Genesee District Library will be holding its Little Monsters Halloween Bash.
There will be trick or treating in the mall at 10 a.m. Cameron Zvara the Magician will have a show at 12 p.m. and there will be the Trunk or Treat previously mentioned in the outdoor village, along with the Spooky Trail until 4 p.m.
Carol Pfaff-Dahl, township trustee and a member of the DDA, said the spooky trail will have two versions – a fun one for younger kids and one for older kids and adults.
“There’s basically a kiddie one,” she said. “It has bales of hay, parents can take pictures. It’s not scary at all.”
The other trail is in the space previously occupied by the University of Phoenix, next to Mo Petes, and offers a spider room, a skeleton classroom and a cemetery.
Pfaff-Dahl said the DDA wants to work with the GDL, 911 and the Genesee Valley Center and local businesses to create a fun, safe Halloween experience.
“We’re hoping to do more if this goes over well,” she said. “We’re saving the props and we want to put more money into it. Maybe do it on the trails by the Police Station someday. But first we’ll need more volunteers and more money.”
The bash is from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Oct. 27. Anyone wishing to help out as a volunteer, call 810-252-2049.
