LAPEER — Join beer lovers from across the state from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at Louie’s Sports Tavern for the fourth annual View Brew Fest. And if for some reason the 100+ craft beer sample selection isn’t enough to pique your interest, the live music, cigar tent and overall camaraderie will do the trick.

View Brew Fest, presented by Jim Riehl’s Friendly Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram includes live music by two Michigan bands, which are both View Brew Fest veterans, including The Reefermen and The Locals. View Newspaper Group will once again host the event and will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Lapeer County Hockey Association. In the past three years, View Brew Fest has raised $15,000 for the organization.

After more than 20 years on stage together, The Reefermen have paid their dues, and are more than capable, competent and qualified to give this year’s View Brew Fest exactly the kick it needs. And the band, who specialize in rock, soul, and blues, is no stranger to events like the View Brew Fest. James Wailin, one of the members of the Reefermen, who also serves as their manager and booking agent, said he loves playing gigs like this, citing the symbiotic relationship of good beer and good music.

“We like the festival crowd, we have just enough funk and the right amount of rock and roll to entertain and connect with a festival audience,” said Wailin. “People are really receptive at festivals like this. We’ve done a bunch and they’re always fun.”

The Locals, who are also set to perform at this year’s View Brew Fest, classify themselves as “kind of like a jukebox,” explaining that they play pretty much anything, and love putting on a good show for their audiences. They specialize in classic rock and they bring the party wherever they go, playing high energy shows. Stu Sonefeld, on drums and vocals, said,

“This is our second time playing Brew Fest, and we really love it, man. The people are awesome and it’s always a great time.”

The 4th Annual View Brew Fest is set for 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at Louie’s Sports Tavern, 3301 Davison Rd., Lapeer. Guests are invited to come out and enjoy live music and sample more than 100 craft beers from around the U.S. Additional fun this year includes a Cigar Tent by Smokers Palace, great food by Louie’s and a chance to win a Wheelbarrow ofCheer to benefit the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Raffle tickets for the wheelbarrow — filled with craft brews — will be on sale for $5 at the event. Advance tickets to View Brew Fest are $10 and include a souvenir glass and three drink samples. Additional sample tickets are available for purchase for just $1 each.

Special VIP tickets are also available and include entrance to the exclusive VIP event 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 at Louie’s Sports Tavern. The evening includes complimentary appetizers, bar, live music, networking and more. For more info call Emily Caswell at 810-452- 2608 or visit www.mihomepaper.com.
