Local business provides relief with administrative help

SWARTZ CREEK — There is a new business in town, thanks to resident Marianne Campbell. Campbell recently opened Advanced Administrative Solutions and as a Virtual Assistant, she specializes in a type of business most business owners have never heard of.

Virtual Assistants (VAs) are micro business owners who provide professional administrative and personal support while working in long-term collaborative relationships with only a handful of clients. In essence, Virtual Assistants supports their clients without having to ever step foot inside the clients’ offices.

As a Virtual Assistant, Campbell has the solution to help make a client’s life easier and at a fraction of the cost, according to a press release. As an independent contractor, she pays her own taxes and business expenses. With a Virtual Assistant, there is no need to pay employee benefits, and there are no training costs.

“Since Virtual Assistants work out of their home, using their own equipment (e.g. computer, printer, copier, scanner, fax machine and phone), clients do not even have to pay for supplies or even a desk, thus cutting down on overhead expenses. In a basic sense, hiring a Virtual Assistant is similar to buying any other product except this one just happens to be a person’s labor,” Campbell said. “I come to the rescue when small business owners, non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, etc. are spending more time on administrative tasks than they are spending on the growing aspect of their business.”

Her client service plans include hourly services, which are ideal for churches, non-profit organizations or projects that occur once or twice per year. The hourly services plan also is a way for businesses considering or just beginning to contract with a Virtual Assistant. Project Services are perfect for special projects or larger projects that occur a couple times per year.

“Projects that you want to be very special and professional looking, but you just do not have as much time to dedicate yourself, as you would like,” Campbell said.

Retainer services are for clients retaining services on an ongoing basis. With the retainer services, Campbell provides basic administrative services, mailing services and desktop publishing, along with company/ personal events and professional organizing.

“Time is valuable, and in short supply,” she said. “When you hire a Virtual Assistant to handle time-consuming tasks, you are literally buying back your own time. Think of what you could accomplish if you had just a few more hours in your day focusing on your business, spending time with your family or just relaxing.”
