Longway Planetarium will host 50th anniversary moon event

FLINT — Longway Planetarium, 1310 E. Kearsley St., will host a family event with hands-on activities in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, July 20, with hands-on activities from 12-4 p.m.

At Apollopalooza, families can design their own lunar vehicles, and get hands-on exploring moon craters, moon phases, and more. Seven Ponds Astronomy Club will provide telescopes for solar observing, weather permitting. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Longway Planetarium staff have produced a special show for the occasion, paying tribute to the historic Apollo program. Apollo: A Special Feature Presentation will play five times on July 20 and for two weekends following the event.
