The Flushing Summer Festival made a triumphant return with its annual parade through downtown Flushing on June 9. Spectators lined Main Street to see floats displaying this year’s “Festival of Music” theme, along with marchers and a host of cool vehicles. There were also special appearances from the Flushing Junior Equestrian team, the Girl Scouts, the Flushing American Legion #283 and numerous local businesses, churches and service organizations. Summerfest drew double its usual attendance this year and had great turnouts for the Skerbeck Carnival, Kid’s Day activities in Riverview Park and the Dawn Patrol Fly In Drive In Pancake Breakfast at Dalton Airport.
