Making a splash for clean water

Carman-Ainsworth senior Erick Skaff will hit the pool today for a 10-mile, six-hour swimming marathon to raise awareness of the shortage of clean water around the world. Skaff is trying to raise funds to benefit people who 'don't have access to the clean water I have daily.' His efforts so far have raised more than $10,000 through his Web site, www.firstgiving.org/swimming4water. Skaff, the top swimmer on the Cavaliers' team, will do 704 laps in the Carman-Ainsworth High School pool from 1 p.m. to about 7 p.m.
