Martin Funeral Home hosts ‘Fly & Remember’ event

MT. MORRIS – Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services will host it’s annual “Fly & Remember” support program for all families that have lost children or who’ve had a loss during pregnancy.

Taking place on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 6:00 p.m., at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 1194 E. Mt. Morris Rd. in Mt. Morris, the “Fly & Remember” program is free to anyone wishing to attend. Families will gather together for pizza and refreshments and then parents and children will separate into two groups. Children in attendance will make a craft in memory of a brother, sister or parent, while the parents program will offer support and words of encouragement specifically focusing on the loss of an infant or a miscarriage. After the separate programs, families will be reunited to light and fly a lantern in memory of their loved one.

“This is a family event, and anyone who has experienced any type of child loss is invited to take part,” said Adam Martin, President and Owner of Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Martin went on to explain that he and his wife, Jennifer, lost their son Miles, who lived for 1 hour and 6 minutes in 2006. “It’s such a difficult time,” said Martin, “this is simply our way of offering a little bit of hope to parents like us.”

In addition to the program offered on the 20th, Martin Funeral Home has a candle lit in all four of their funeral homes in memory of all of the families they have served in recent years who have experienced the loss of an infant or a loss during pregnancy. These candles will burn throughout the month of October. If someone wishes to have a candle in memory of their child, Martin’s is offering them free to anyone. Please call, toll free, 888-686-2210 to order your candle. Additional candles may be purchased for a small charge.
