GENESEE COUNTY — Four local State Representative races in Genesee County showed only a few surprises as most incumbents held onto their seats for another term.
In the 48th District, however, polling numbers at press time showed incumbent Sheryl Kennedy (D-Richfield Township) behind David Martin (R-Davison) by a vote of 24,796-24,306. Numbers were not final as of Tuesday morning.
The 48th District represents Clio, Davison, Davison Township, Forest Township, Genesee Township, Montrose, Montrose Township, Richfield Township, Thetford Township, and Vienna Township.
In the 49th District, incumbent John Cherry (D-Flint) was holding a strong lead over challenger Bryan Lutz (R-Flushing) with a vote of 24,888-12,270.
The 49th District represents Flint Township, Flushing, Mount Morris, Mount Morris Township, Swartz Creek, and part of Flint.
50th District State Rep. Tim Sneller (D-Burton) was ahead of challenger Christina Fitchett- Hickson (R-Burton) with a vote of 27,842-23,506.
The 50th District covers Burton, Grand Blanc, Grand Blanc Township, and Mundy Township.
In the 51st District, challenger Brad May (D-Fenton) was losing to incumbent Mike Mueller (R-Linden) by a vote of 29,173- 17,181.
The 51st District covers Argentine Township, Atlas Township, Fenton Township, Flushing Township, Gaines Township, and Linden.
