FLINT — An exhibition showcasing more than 300 works of art by students at Mott Community College will be on public display through June 17.
The 53rd Annual Student Art Show features a broad range of art work by MCC students, located in the Fine Arts Gallery of the Visual Arts & Design Center on the Mott Community College main campus, 1401 East Court St., Flint. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
The Student Art Show, which takes place each spring, is juried by MCC Art and Photography faculty and includes drawings, paintings, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, photography and graphic design. Special awards are given to students who score points for work in multiple classes; gold award work is displayed in the main gallery. This year’s award winners are:
First Year Graphic Design Art Achievement Award: Jessica Janda of Dryden and Leigha Rankin of Imlay City.
First Year Fine Arts Achievement Award: Christina Smith of Flint.
Second Year Fine Arts Achievement Award: Paul Everett of Flint
Faculty Graphic Design Student Recognition Award: Jason Jerke of Flint.
Faculty Fine Arts Student Recognition Award: Isiah Balicki of Flint.
Faculty Photography Student Recognition Award: Leslie Cox of Grand Blanc.
Student Show Announcement Award: Francisco Cortez of Flint.
The MCC Fine Arts Gallery also sponsors a series of exhibitions by recognized national and regional artists throughout the year.
The artists present a lecture about their work, giving students an opportunity to meet successful exhibiting artists and learn about their experiences. The Gallery’s regularly scheduled hours are 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
