FLINT — With her election as State Representative last November, MCC Trustee Pamela M. Faris was required by law to resign from the Mott Community College Board of Trustees before taking her new post.
Faris was appointed by the Board of Trustees in 2010 and elected to a full term in 2011. Faris announced her resignation at the Dec. 17 meeting of the Board of Trustees. The resignation will take effect Dec. 27.
Her resignation creates a vacancy on the Board, which must be filled within 30 days by a vote of the remaining trustees.
The MCC Board of Trustees is currently accepting applications from those interested in being considered for the position. The appointment will begin Jan. 28 and will expire on Dec. 31, 2014. To be eligible for appointment, applicants must prove that they are a qualified voter residing within the Mott Community College District, which consists of the 21 school districts contained within the Genesee Intermediate School District.
Applicants must provide the following to the MCC Office of the President and Board of Trustees by no later than 5 p.m., Jan. 8:
1. A signed letter indicating the applicant’s desire to be considered for appointment to the MCC Board of Trustees,
2. a personal resume, and
3. evidence of eligibility (e.g., government-issued photo ID, voter registration card, etc.).

Per board policy, the Board of Trustees shall not be restricted to consideration of those submitting applications in filling a vacancy. — G.G.
