MCC Earns Fourth Gold Ranking as a Veteran Friendly School

FLINT — Mott Community College (MCC) has received a Gold ranking as a Veteran Friendly School for the 2018-19 academic year by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). Gold is the highest ranking the organization awards to colleges and universities. It is the College’s fourth Gold designation in as many years.

The Veteran-Friendly School program, created by the MVAA, recognizes institutions of higher learning for their dedication to student veterans and dependents utilizing their G.I. Bill and other educational benefits.

“We at Mott College are proud of our tradition of providing a welcoming and supportive environment for our military veterans and their dependents,” said Dr. Chris Engle, Dean of Enrollment, Retention and Registrar/Title IX Coordinator at MCC. “It is through the dedication, leadership and hard work of our staff, such as Michele Traver, Operations Coordinator, Records and Veterans Services, and David Martin – Veteran Resource Specialist who works with and supports our Military- Connected and Student Veterans, that we have earned this prestigious designation for the fourth year in a row.”

The rankings make it simple for veterans and their dependents to identify schools throughout Michigan that are committed to supporting them and helping them succeed. Through the Veteran- Friendly School program, veterans will know exactly what services are available to them when they walk onto a campus. The MVAA 2018 rankings are available on

The veteran-friendly designation is available to any institution of higher learning eligible to receive veteran education benefits, regardless of size, location or program delivery. A new application and review process will be conducted every spring semester. Institutions can apply each year for the same, higher or lower ranking.
