MCC Fine Arts Gallery to feature alumnus David Petersen




FLINT – The Mott Community College (MCC) Fine Arts Gallery in the Visual Arts and Design Center will present an exhibition of illustrations titled Tales in Ink by MCC Alumnus David Peterson.

His exhibition will be in the gallery from Feb. 5-20, and Petersen will give a public presentation about his work Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. in the Visual Arts and Design Center, room 129.

Petersen was born in 1977 in Flint, MI. After attending Mott Community College he earned a BFA in Printmaking from Eastern Michigan University in 2000. He is the creator of the New York Times Bestselling and critically acclaimed Graphic Novel series Mouse Guard, published in 17 languages. He recently finished a newly illustrated version of Kenneth Grahame’s Wind in the Willows.

The 2007 Russ Manning Award recipient for Most Promising Newcomer, Peterson has also won three Eisner Awards and two Harvey Awards for his continued work on the Mouse Guard series. In 2016 the Mouse Guard series was optioned by 20th Century Fox for feature film adaptation. He and his wife Julia reside in Michigan with their Anatolian Shepherds “Bronwyn and Coco.”

The Fine Arts Gallery is located in the Visual Arts and Design Center on the Mott Community College main campus in Flint. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Free and open to the public.
