GENESEE COUNTY — Mott Community College will ask voter Nov. 5 to renew a millage to help with maintenance and improvements at its facilities.
Residents who live in the college’s district, which is composed of all the school districts in Genesee County, would vote for the bond renewal.
Residents currently pay 0.87 mills, or 87 cents for every $1,000 of taxable value.
MCC reportedly has multiple bonds out at a time and as some get paid off, new ones are taken out.
With the renewal of a new bond, residents would still be paying 0.87 mills.
The money will be used for capital improvements, maintenance, construction and similar uses. Bond millage funds cannot be used for salaries or operating funds.
The last time time Mott’s bond was renewed was in June 2004. — Gary Gould
