CarFit is a FREE educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicle “fits” them. AAA, AARP and The American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc., partnered to develop the program. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, older drivers are often the safest in that they are more likely to wear their seatbelts, and less likely to speed and drink and drive. However, older drivers are also more likely to be killed or seriously injured when a crash does occur due to the greater fragility of their muscles, joints and bones. — G.G.
