McLaren health care worker succumbs to COVID-19

FLINT — An intensive care nurse at McLaren Flint has died due to complications from coronavirus.

Patrick Cain, 52, died over the weekend and was remembered in a statement released April 6 by McLaren Flint president and CEO Chad Grant.

“It is with deep sadness that McLaren Flint’s president and CEO notified its employees and physicians on Monday that a Registered Nurse from the McLaren Flint team passed away over the weekend,” said Grant. “Our deepest sympathies go out to this team member’s family, friends, and immediate co-workers during this incredibly difficult time.”

Grant said the hospital’s behavioral health team is rounding to support staff coping with the loss.

“The passing of one of our own heroes is a tragic reminder of just how widespread the virus we are fighting has become,” said Grant. “Please continue to support and care for each other during these trying times.”
