FLINT TWP. — Marking its seventh consecutive year as a community cultural celebration, the Our Lady of Lebanon Mid-East Festival is back this weekend with good food, lively entertainment and a big fireworks show.
The three-day event kicks off at 11:30 a.m. and runs until midnight on Friday. It continues from noon to midnight on Saturday and wraps up from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, held on the grounds of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Road.
The fireworks show is scheduled to start at 9:40 p.m. on Saturday. Other entertainment will include traditional Dabke Dance performances, belly dance performances and a live band and singers. Other activities include church tours, belly dancing lessons and a raffle with cash prizes ranging from $250 to $5000.
Children’s ticketed events will include a bounce house, clown face painting, a bungee jumper and a walk on water feature. There will also be a free Freeze Frame Photo Lounge and a Henna Tattoo artist.
The chance to sample traditional foods is another highlight of the event. Selections of authentic homemade Middle Eastern cuisine will include Kibbee, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Hummus, Baked Meat and Spinach Pies, Tabouli, Shawarma, Falafel, Baklawa, Honey Balls, and much more.
