Miracle League receives grant from the Community Foundation

MUNDY TWP. — The Miracle League of Greater Flint (MLGF) is the recipient of a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (CFGF) that will help to fund the future Miracle League baseball field at Hill Road Park in Mundy Township.

The CFGF grant for $8,000 will be designated for purchasing the specialized materials needed for the construction of the Miracle League field. The baseball field is being designed to be fully accessible for people of all abilities. This includes items such as turf that works well with wheelchairs and other assistive devices, accessible dugouts, and a universally designed pitcher’s mound.

“We are so grateful the Community Foundation is providing support for the new Miracle League field,” said Brian Caine, MLGF League Director. “This is a significant grant that will create equal opportunities for exercise for more than 10,000 kids in Genesee County.”

The new field will be located in Hill Road Park, a new recreational facility in Mundy Township on Hill Road, next to Assenmacher’s Cycling Center. Hill Road Park will open in 2020. Mundy Township and MLGF formed a partnership in 2015, with the Township donating the land for the Miracle League field in the new park. It is expected the MLGF field will break ground in the park in 2020. — G.G.
