FLINT TWP. – For about the fourth time in the past three months, police are reporting that a pedestrian was injured or killed while walking along the road.
Most recently, on Saturday, September 10, at about 2:28 a.m., township police responded to a personal injury crash involving a pedestrian on W. Court St. near Krsul Dr.
The pedestrian, a 21-year-old female and City of Flint resident, was seriously injured in the crash. An initial investigation found that she was walking in the roadway when she was struck by a westbound vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition.
Police have not yet determined if speed or alcohol were a factor in this crash.

About a week earlier, on Thursday, September 1, at approximately 9 p.m., police responded to a personal injury crash involving a pedestrian on Van Slyke Rd., north of Maple Rd.
The pedestrian, Elden Toby, a 53-year-old Flint Township resident, was fatally injured in the crash. Initial investigation has shown that he was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with police. At that time, it was not determined if speed or alcohol were a factor in this crash.

Last month, on Saturday, August 12, at about 10:48 p.m., a pedestrian was struck and killed by a westbound vehicle as he was crossing Corunna just west of S. Dye Road, according to a police report.
The victim was identified as Brian Phillips, a 50-year-old Flint Township resident. It is not believed that the driver of the vehicle, who did not stop, was under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Earlier this summer, on Sunday, June 5 at about 10 p.m. a Flint man, 58, was fatally injured while walking on eastbound I-69 freeway, east of i-75 according to a police report. Police Identified the victim as Richard Sposito. An initial investigation found that Sposito was walking in the outside lane of travel when he was struck by a total of 3 vehicles. Police did not know why Sposito was walking on the expressway. It was not believed that the drivers of the vehicles were under the influence of alcohol.
In a Summer of Safety statewide campaign launched by law enforcement agencies back in June, pedestrians were advised to walk facing traffic, wear brightly colored clothing to make it easier for drivers to see them and to wear reflective clothing and use a flashlight while walking at night.
