GENESEE COUNTY — The Flint MTA faces financial challenges even after voters renewed a 0.4-mil levy for five years for Your Ride, on Aug. 4.
“It’s an important first step, very important,” said Edgar Benning, MTA general manager.
The millage will raise about $3.4 million per year.
“It appears to me that voters in Genesee County continue to support essential public transportation services and understand the impact it has on the quality of life in our community,” Benning said of the 29,623 to 13,937 final vote count.
“It’s great to see the continued support for public transportation that’s needed by so many.”
Benning said the transportation authority still faces financial hardships due to declining property tax values.
