Finally the Lions get it done by blasting the Ram A Lamb A Ding Dongs, 44-6. It was a strong tribute to the fans, as it was a sellout at Ford Field. A beautiful autumn day made tailgating an absolute joy. However, the victory was the biggest joy. Detroit as a football team needed the win and the fans of the Motor City Kitty’s needed it, too! The win snapped a 10-game losing streak. A special thank you to the Rams for acting like “Lambs” on this sweet Sunday! Lions fans, enjoy the win, and let’s get ready for the New York Giants.
Pity party in Ann Arbor
The Big House looked more like the outhouse for the Maize and Blue. The Spartys flushed down the Wolverines’ undefeated season with a convincing win. The Heisman trophy talk will subside by me—and college football—on Denard Robinson. Mr. Robinson’s neighborhood had some green and white jerseys in it, as he tossed some crucial interceptions. The Michigan defense is atrocious and down right terrible and has the worst tackling football team I have ever watched. Just pitiful is being very kind!
The Spartans are an excellent football team. They have a smart quarterback and good running backs. The defense is pretty solid, also. The Spartans might just be a dark horse to win the Big Ten. The Spartans are on a three-game winning streak against the Wolverines. Sparty On Spartys!
October baseball
Major League Baseball playoffs have only one series going five games and it was played on Tuesday night. Either the Rays or Rangers will move on to face the Yankees, who swept the Twins. The poor Minnesota Twins have not won a playoff game in 11 tries. Ouuchhhiee! The Tampa and Texas series is odd in that neither team has won a home game. Trust me, that is really odd. Whoever wins the series should give the Yankees a good American League Championship series.
The National League is completed as the Giants and Phillies moved on. The Bobby Cox era is over in Atlanta. A 51-year career in baseball has come to a close. Bobby, enjoy retirement! The Phillies disposed of the Reds in three games. Brooming the Reds was no surprise to me. The Phillies are the best team in baseball right now. The Phillies will have their work cut out, as the Giants have the starting
pitching to match the Phillies. If the San Francisco Giants can find a little offense, they might be able to knock off the “Fighting Phils”! I am
taking the Phillies, however, in six games.
Winged wheels
The Detroit Red Wings have started the hockey season out in strong fashion. A win in the home opener over Anaheim was a Jimmy Howard 4-0 shutout-victory. The Wings followed that up with a 3-2 road victory spoiling the Chicago Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup banner ceremony. It’s nice to see a healthy hockey team skating around the rink. Believe me, health will dictate how far the Red Wings season will go here in 2010- 11.
