— The Humane Society of Genesee County’s 21st Annual Dog Walk-A-Thon and Mutt Masquerade are coming up noon-3 p.m. Oct. 9 on the campus of Mott Community College.
The event features games, the Mutt Masquerade competition, HSGC alumni picture, vendors and, of course, the walk. The walk is a mile-long marked trail that meanders through the grounds and the nearby neighborhoods. Participants can stroll along the Barker Street Square with vendors offering everything from professional photography sessions to micro-chipping to food. Music will be provided by Key-Lore DJ Services.
The Mutt Masquerade, which coincides with the walk-a-thon, features several categories including “Grooviest,” “Most Amazing Pet Trick,” “Most Festive” and “Owner/Pet Look Alike”. Dogs are welcome, but not necessary to attend. Individuals can also walk for their cat by filling out one of the paw cut outs to wear while they walk. Cost is $10 per dog, $15 for a family with multiples. If the pledges collected equals $100, the fee will be waived. The registration fee includes a goodie bag for the dog.
