FLINT — As part of National Health Center Week (NHCW), Hamilton Community Health Network (HCHN) is hosting several community events this week.
The national campaign runs Aug. 4–10 with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past 50 years.
“Here at Hamilton, we have been providing quality healthcare to anyone who is in need, whether it’s medical, dental, vision or behavioral health for over 35 years. Our mission is to ensure there is quality affordable and accessible care to everyone in our community,” explained Mr. Clarence Pierce, CEO of Hamilton Community Health Network. “National Health Center Week is a time for us to thank the community, our patients, and our staff for being part of the Hamilton family.”
The week’s events line up:
Aug. 5 – Patient Appreciation Day – all clinics.
Aug. 6, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Meet and Greet Barbecue for patients and community – Lapeer Clinic 1570 Suncrest Dr, Lapeer.
Aug. 7, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – HealthCare for the Homeless, Hamilton-Flint Clinic 212 Root St. Flint.
Aug. 9, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. – Family Fun Day, Main Clinic 2900 Saginaw St. Flint.
Hamilton Community Health Network is part of a nationwide network of health centers that serve more than 28 million people. HCHN is on the front lines of national public health challenges — whether providing care to the insured or uninsured, caring for the homeless, providing opioid treatment, or assisting in health care coverage enrollment.
This year’s NHCW will highlight how health centers are at the forefront of a nationwide shift in addressing environmental and social factors as integral parts of primary care. In fact, HCHN has two doctors researching community medicine in the Flint area, reaching beyond the walls of conventional medicine to address the factors that may cause sickness, such as lack of nutrition, mental illness, homelessness, and substance use disorders.
Hamilton’s Health Center week is sponsored locally by 1800Law Firm, Blue Cross Complete, HAP, McLaren Health Plan, Visualutions, Valley Area Agency on Aging, Meridian, Maxwell Therapy, Sanofi Pateur, Teamsters 332, and UAW Women’s Auxiliary 651.
