National writing competition open

MICHIGAN — The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn is accepting entries until March 15 for its Third Annual Building Stories: A Creative Writing Contest. This year, students in grades 3-12 from across the United States are invited to create a story that celebrates the life and times of Thomas Edison, one of America’s greatest inventors.

The Henry Ford provides foundational materials from its collection as a primary resource to set a backdrop for a creative story of historical fiction.

Three first prizewinners — one each from grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 categories will win a $250 gift card to Henry Ford.

One grand prize winner chosen from first prize winners will receive an additional $250 gift card and publication of the winning story on The Henry Ford’s website.

The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2015. Official rules and contest details are posted online at http://www.thehenryford.org/education/ buildingstories.aspx
