New council members, returning mayor sworn-in

DAVISON — The Davison City Council’s newly elected members were sworn in Nov. 23, along with re-elected Mayor Tim Bishop.

Joining the council are new members Stacy Kalisz, Casey Clark and Jaime Stebbins. They are replacing outgoing council members Ben Callis, Leigh LaForest and Jacqui McKellar, all of whom chose not to seek another term this year.

The councilmembers and mayor were sworn in by City Manager/Clerk Andrea Schroeder via Zoom during the council meeting.

“Congratulations to the new members, we look forward to having you,” said Schroeder. “We’re like a family here… you’ll enjoy being on council.”

The council also appointed Ron Emery to serve as mayor pro-tem for the remaining two years of his current term. No one else was nominated for the position.

Bishop said the new council members will be attending the Michigan Municipal League’s academy for newly elected officials so they can learn about what they can and can’t do as city council members.
