FLINT TWP. — What’s for dinner? That familiar refrain of family mealtimes rings true at the family-styled Great Lakes Sandwich Co. & Cafe, 5270 Corunna Road at the corner of Dye Road.
But don’t let the name fool you. The versatile diner has a varied and revolving menu.
“We have a bit of everything,” said manager Mike G, who also is one of the partners in A Miracal LLC, which opened the place about four months ago.
On Tuesdays, they offer roasted turkey legs with a choice of plain, BBQ or honey mustard seasoning. On Fridays, slabs or halfslabs of BBQ ribs are on the menu.
An anytime breakfast menu includes strawberry pancakes, breakfast burritos and ham and eggs sandwiches, said Mike G, a Flint Township resident.
Meatloaf and mashed potatoes might be one of the answers to a regular customer who walks in asking “what’s for dinner?”
A full sandwich menu includes favorites like Chicken Salad, Pulled Pork, Smoky Turkey, Philly Melt, Gyro, BLT and more. Soups, salads, pizza, desserts and beverages are also served.
“People are starting to call us the neighborhood kitchen because of the way we are set up, Mike G said.
A homey, round kitchen table set up in the middle of the restaurant is the first to fill up when moms and dads come in with the kids, he said. The cozy 600 square-foot diner has 12 booths and tables.
“We just want people to stop in and have a cup of coffee, take a load off, Mike G. said of the environment.
