GENESEE COUNTY — The Genesee County Road Commission recently equipped its snow plow trucks with the newest technology to help improve visibility when plowing snow covered roads.

The GCRC has added a 4-footlong green LED Lighted Stick to the end of the wing plows. The new stick lights are 48-inches-long and vertical, compared to the old lights that were 5-inches-long and horizontal.

By adding an additional 43-inches of lighting to the end of the plow, the GCRC will increase the visibility of the wing plows. When approaching GCRC plow trucks motorists seeing this 4-foot-long light stick, please be aware they are plowing two lanes of road when using a wing plow.

The GCRC recommends motorists stay a safe distance behind their plow trucks when the wing plow is down.

Please remember GCRC trucks’ maximum speed limit is 25 MPH while plowing the roads. At this speed it allows them to safely operate their machinery and clear the roads faster.

The GCRC asks motorists to please be patient and do not pass plow trucks on the right-hand side. — G.G.
