FLINT TWP. — Shoe Carnival, the newest store in a recent boom in the township’s shopping district, has quietly opened its doors in readiness for ribbon-cutting and grand opening events this week.
“We are very excited for (this) week and into the weekend to get off on a great foot in Flint,” said Jessica Wildeman, spokeswoman for the Indiana-based company, in a press release.
A ribbon-cutting, organized by the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce, was scheduled for 10 a.m. today (Nov. 7) at the store located at 3192 S. Linden Road in the Oak Brook Square shopping plaza.
The grand opening celebration is set to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Nov. 9. The first 100 customers to arrive will receive a $10 reward card to use toward anything in the store. Other special events during the day will include:
A drawing for free shoes for a year at 10 a.m.
A drawing for $1,000 cash, courtesy of Skechers at 11 a.m.
Doorbuster deals from 9 a.m. to noon.
Prizes and giveaways all weekend long.
The store has hired 31 employees and is always accepting applications, Wildeman said.
