New on-call firefighter hired by board

FLINT TWP. — The Flint Township Board of Trustees Monday approved hiring an on-call firefighter.

Fire Chief Thomas Stadler said Joshua Hollister has successfully completed a police background check, written test and physical agility test. He also has completed his Fire Academy work and will begin an orientation process.

In other Flint Township Fire Department news, the board approved spending $7,748.67 for garage door replacement at Fire Station 1. Stadler said the work will upgrade the south side garage doors and help make the station bays more energy efficient and reduce heating bills.

Dover Door won the contract for the work. Two other bids were submitted: Overhead Door of Flint for $8,189.92 and Overhead Door of Pontiac for $8,392.19. — J.J.
