GISD release online directory

FLINT TWP. — The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) recently completed the 2010-2011 Directory of Genesee County Schools.

The directory will only be available electronically, via the GISD website, in order to eliminate printing and distribution costs. It is posted at as a searchable PDF document and may be printed by anyone wishing to have a hard copy.

The document is located in the Publication and Reports option within the Directories area of the website.

The directory includes key contact information for each school district and public school academy in the county.

Additionally, contact information is available for all non-public schools, educational organizations, as well as Genesee County area legislators. The countywide directory is provided as a public service by GISD. — N.B.

Township public hearing for departmental budget

FLINT TWP. — The Flint Township Board of Trustees has set a public hearing to adopt its 2011 township departmental budget for 7 p.m. Nov. 22.

Hopeful Hearts at C/A Senior Center

FLINT TWP. — Grace Hospice presents “Hopeful Hearts,” an on-going grief support group, every other Wednesday at Carman Ainsworth Senior Center, 2071 S. Graham Rd.

The group is facilitated by Goodman (Goodie) Cox and are held at 1 p.m. Future dates are Dec. 1, 15 and 29.

SWARTZ CREEK — PAWS Animal Rescue collects VG’s receipts, and is asking the community to send in their receipts to help the organization.

SWARTZ CREEK — The recently-formed Swartz Creek Area Art Guild is seeking donations of money, goods and/or services for its upcoming art gallery at 8048 Miller Rd.

The gallery will be used for teaching art, as well as providing a space for local artists to show and sell their art to the public.

The Guild has a list of items that are needed, and all donations are tax deductible. The Swartz Creek Area Art Guild is a non-profit organization.

51st Annual Motorcycle Races at Perani

FLINT — On Dec. 4, the 51st Annual Indoor Motorcycle Ice Races, hosted by the Flint Motorcycle Club, roars into Perani Arena and Event Center.

Since the races inception, all proceeds from the event have benefited Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint. This has been a lasting partnership combining the love of motorcycles and ice racing with the mentoring needs of children in the community.

More than 2,000 spectators are expected to attend and be thrilled by amateur and professional riders competing for prize money, and the races will showcase adult competitors and a youth division featuring children as young as four-years-old.

Doors open at 6 p.m., followed by the races at 7 p.m. Tickets are $16 for adults, $8 for children. Tickets are available at Perani Arena and Event Center and Ticket Master Outlets. A kick-off party is Dec. 2 at Scooters Bar & Grill, featuring a live auction and pre-race fun.

Jobs workshop

BURTON — Employment Options president and founder Paula Rueben Vieillet, has been invited to speak at the quarterly meeting for the State of Michigan on Nov. 19 in Lansing, 201 N. Washington.

While she is here, she as agreed to host a Free Employment Workshop at Walli’s on Center Road in Burton at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18.

Topics will include discussion about more than 1,000 government aproved, work-fronhome positions and resumes, tips and tactics and how to succeed in an interview.
