Getting it right

FLINT TWP. — In articles regarding the selling of paczkis at Donna’s Donuts, the pricing information was incorrect. The corrected pricing should have been: $1.10 for each one, $6.60 for a half dozen and $13.20 for a dozen, which is only 12 and not 13 like a baker’s dozen. — N.B.

Vogt’s president to speak at March 11 Applewood Series

FLINT — Kreg Krueger, president of Vogt’s Flowers, is the featured speaker at the Mott Community College Fridays at Applewood Lecture Series on March 11. A continental breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. with the presentation to follow in the auditorium of the MCC Regional Technology Center.

Krueger, who is back by popular demand, will discuss the where, what, when and how of flowers, from field to table. Vogt’s Flowers, considered Genesee County’s leading florist for more than 80 years, is family-owned and operated with four locations in Genesee County. In 2000, Vogt’s was awarded Retailer of the Year by their peers and the Michigan Floral Association.

The MCC Fridays at Applewood Lecture Series offers a wide range of programs with intriguing topics and presenters each month. Donna’s Donuts announces paczkis goal

FLINT TWP. — To beat last year’s record of selling 770 dozen paczkis, John Gibbons, owner of Donna’s Donuts, held a press conference Feb. 16, announcing this year’s goal for paczki sales.

This year, Gibbons wants to hit a personal goal of selling 1,000 dozen orders of paczkis and to achieve this goal, the store is taking pre-orders. Customers can preorder paczkis up until March 5. From March 6-8, Donna’s Donuts will sell paczkis in the store. As an incentive, those who pre-order their paczkis will be entered into a drawing to win a dozen donuts each week for the rest of 2011. The winner also will get to choose a charity that will receive a $500 donation from Donna’s Donuts.

Paczki flavors are apple, blueberr y, custard, cream, cherr y, lemon, prune, raspberr y and strawberr y. Cost is $1.10 for each one, $6.60 for a dozen or $13.20 for a dozen, which is only 12 and not 13 like a baker’s dozen.

Audition for GBAC event scheduled April 3

GRAND BLANC — Solo auditions for the Grand Blanc Arts Council’s annual November “Grand Blanc Community Sing” will take place on April 3.

Auditions times will held on a first come first ser ve basis from 3-5:45 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church of Grand Blanc, 9020 S. Saginaw Rd. All those auditioning are expected to bring their own copy of “Messiah” and an accompanist will be provided.

Volunteer drivers needed for Genesee-Lapeer ARC

GENESEE COUNTY — The American Red Cross Genesee-Lapeer Chapter Med-A-Ride Program needs volunteer drivers. The Genesee-Lapeer Chapter works with Lapeer County residents who need help with transportation to out of town medical appointments. The Chapter has a van that has been equipped with handicapped equipment, such as a chair lift, etc., in order to help these individuals. Volunteer drivers are needed one day a week.
