Supervisor reports declining population

FLINT TWP. — Supervisor Karyn Miller informed the Board of Trustees at its Monday night meeting that the township population has dropped about 2,500 people to 31,929, according to data released from the 2010 Census Count. — R.S.

Kroger gets OK for canopy

FLINT TWP. — The Board of Trustees approved a request from the Kroger store at 5429 Corunna Road to operate a canopy structure for outdoor seasonal sales in its parking lot from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 14 to July 20. — R.S.

King Par to hold tent sale

FLINT TWP. — The Board of Trustees granted a request from King Par, 5140 Flushing Road, to hold tent sales from June to August. Clerk Kim Courts said three sales are held during the Summer Event and must receive clearance each time from the Fire Chief. — R.S.

Board cancels May 2 meeting

FLINT TWP. — The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Township Board will be May 16, after the Board of Trustees voted at its Monday night meeting to cancel the May 2 meeting because of the school election the next day. No reason was given for canceling the April 18 meeting. During public comment, a resident voiced concern about delays in conducting township business during the sixweek interim. — R.S.

Board haggles over Parks appointment

FLINT TWP. — After some discussion about suitable candidates, the board of trustees approved a recommendation to appoint Chuck Hughes to the Parks & Recreation Committee. Supervisor Karyn Miller, Treasurer Sandra S. Wright and Trustee Kim Courts voted against the appointment. Wright said the nomination process had not followed normal procedure. — R.S.

PAWS needs VG’s receipts

Volunteer drivers needed for Genesee-Lapeer ARC

GENESEE COUNTY — The American Red Cross Genesee-Lapeer Chapter Med-A-Ride Program needs volunteer drivers. The Genesee-Lapeer Chapter works with Lapeer County residents who need help with transportation to out of town medical appointments. The Chapter has a van that has been equipped with handicapped equipment, such as a chair lift, etc., in order to help these individuals. Volunteer drivers are needed one day a week. Ride for the Troops planned

DAVISON — Alberta Sparks, known throughout the Davison-area as Aunt Bert, is planning a Ride for the Troops, May 21, for both motorcycles and automobiles. The event will start at the VFW Post 4087, 9474 Lapeer Rd., and the times will be announced later. Spring craft bazaar at VFW

DAVISON TWP. — The Davison VFW Post 4087, 9474 Lapeer Rd., will hold a spring craft bazaar on April 16 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Eight foot tables are $22 or $37 for two tables. There is a $3 additional charge for electricity. Admission is $1.

20th Annual DHS Craft Show

DAVISON — The 17th Annual Davison High School Spring Arts and Crafts Show will be held April 16-17 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. The Davison Wrestling Boosters sponsor this highly attended show. Some 100-plus booths will be in attendance selling florals, jewelry and primitives and many one-of-a-kind items. There is a $2 charge for people age 14 and older.
