Fazoli’s not closing

FLINT TWP. — Fazoli’s, 5100 Corunna Rd., will not close in May, contrary to earlier reports.

The Flint Township VIEW reported April 21 a spaghetti dinner planned for May 13 at Carman-Ainsworth High School had been canceled due to the closing of Fazoli’s. Management said the restaurant will remain open, but was unable to host the dinner.

Cinco de Mayo party planned

FLINT TWP. — The Shindig networking group is hosting a Cinco De Mayo Party, 5:30 – 07:30 pm May 5 at the AmericInn, 6075 Hill Road at US-23 Dr. The Shindig is an afterhours networking event held the first Thursday of each month at different member locations. Carman-Ainsworth Senior Prom planned

FLINT TWP. — “Once Upon a Dream,’’ Carman-Ainsworth’s senior prom will be held from 7:30-11 p.m. May 7 at Canterbury Village in Lake Orion. About 300 students are expected to attend this year, said advisor Matt Young. A DJ will provide music. — R.S.

Counseling center offers free workshop

FLINT — “Helping Youth Transition Into Adulthood,’’ a free community-based workshop will be held from 6-8 p.m. May 3 and repeated from 9-11 a.m. on May 4 at the Family Counseling Center of Recco Richardson Consulting Inc., 6309 N. Saginaw Street. Cofacilitators are Recco Richardson, psychotherapist, and Angel Robertson, a masters level intern from Walden University.

Sadler wins a dozen donuts each week, charity donation

FLINT TWP. — Rick Sadler is the winner of a dozen fresh donuts each week in a random drawing of pre-orders from Donna’s Donuts Fat Tuesday sales.

Plus Sadler chose the South Side Soup Kitchen as the recipient of a $500 donation. Donna’s had record sales of more than 1,200 dozen donuts in Fat Tuesday sales this year, said owner John Gibbons.

The South Side Soup Kitchen is run by Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, 3410 Fenton Road in Flint. Reverend Maurice Horne accepted a check from Gibbons to be used to help fund their worthy cause. — R.S.

Economist to speak at Baker College

FLINT TWP. — A presentation by Paul Traub, business economist from the Detroit Branch of the Federal Bank of Chicago will be held 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, May 24 at the Baker College of Flint Auditorium. His topic will be the current and forecasted economic conditions including GDP, unemployment projections, interest rates and related economic issues. Sponsors are Baker College of Flint, Baker College Student Business Association, Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce, The Flint Journal and Junior Achievement of Genesee Valley. — R.S.

Board cancels May 2 meeting

FLINT TWP. — The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Township Board will be May 16, after the Board of Trustees voted at its Monday night meeting to cancel the May 2 meeting because of the school election the next day. No reason was given for canceling the April 18 meeting. During public comment, a resident voiced concern about delays in conducting township business during the six-week interim. — R.S.

Volunteer drivers needed for Genesee-Lapeer ARC

GENESEE COUNTY — The American Red Cross Genesee-Lapeer Chapter Med-A-Ride Program needs volunteer drivers. The Genesee- Lapeer Chapter works with Lapeer County residents who need help with transportation to out of town medical appointments. The Chapter has a van that has been equipped with handicapped equipment, such as a chair lift, etc., in order to help these individuals. Volunteer drivers are needed one day a week.
