Class of 1975 to hold reunion

GRAND BLANC — Grand Blanc Class of 1975 invites all classes of the 70’s to celebrate their 35 class reunion with live entertainment at Sharkeys located at Center and Bristol Bar, Aug. 28 from 7 p.m.-12 a.m. Cost is $10 per person. — G.G.

Beautiful Baby Contest coming

GRAND BLANC — The annual Beautiful Baby Contest, part of the Grand Blanc Family Fun Fest, will be held Sept. 19. Times are as follow:

• Ages 0-12 months 3 p.m. • Ages 1-3 years of age 3:30 p.m. • Ages 3-5 years of age4:00 p.m.

• Winners announced at 5:00

The contest will be held at the Family Activities Tent (Grand Blvd & Reid Rd.) and the cost of entry for each child is $5.

This event is sponsored by New York Life Agent, Chris Foster of Grand Blanc and Funtastic Inflatable’s in Burton. Applications are available at www.grandblancchamber.org.

Volunteer drivers needed

GENESEE COUNTY — The American Red Cross Genesee-Lapeer Chapter Med-A-Ride Program needs volunteer drivers. The Genesee- Lapeer Chapter works with Lapeer County residents who need help with transportation to out of town medical appointments. The Chapter has a van that has been equipped with handicapped equipment, such as a chair lift, etc., in order to help these individuals. Volunteer drivers are needed one day a week. Art in the Park 2010 returns to Elms Road Park

SWARTZ CREEK — Those looking for something artsy and fun to do Aug. 28 need to head to Elms Road Park for the second annual Art in the Park 2010.

Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Swartz Creek and Swartz Creek Chamber of Commerce, Art in the Park features more than 52 artists that specialize in photography, painting, pottery, metalworks and textiles.

In addition to the art, which is available for purchase, the festival features a free Kids Zone complete with face painting, balloon art and art instruction by local artists Charlene Howe and Peggy Abrams. Entertainment will be provided this year as well, and the festival has three area musicians scheduled.

A full food court will be available for vendors and attendees, complete with smoothies, funnel cakes, hamburgers, sub sandwiches and breakfast items.

The newly-formed Swartz Creek Art Guild will have an information booth at Art in the Park, passing out information on the guild.

The Swartz Creek Women’s Club, a chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, will host a silent auction and raffle.

Art in the Park is endorsed by the Swartz Creek City Council, Swartz Creek Downtown Development Authority and the Swartz Creek Women’s Club. Admission is free.
