NFL Playoffs don’t disappoint

Fat Guy Corner

Can it be the college bowl season has finally come to a close? Almost, as there is one more game left on the docket. The National Championship game January 13 between LSU and Clemson and it should be a dandy. The LSU Tigers got here by destroying Oklahoma in a joke of a football game! I have a suggestion. Let’s leave out Oklahoma and the Big 12 Conference where defense can’t be found with a search warrant! It’s embarrassing, quite frankly. I believe LSU could have scored 100 points if it wanted to. I predicated a LSU victory.

Clemson over LSU

The Clemson Tigers and Ohio State game was a tremendous football game played by two great programs. It looked like early on Ohio State would win, but Clemson rallied for the victory. I enjoyed this game and also correctly picked Clemson to win. I will say Ohio State deserved to win, but a couple controversial calls hurt its chances. The boys in Vegas have installed the LSU team as 5-1/2 point favorites to win over Clemson. Can LSU be stopped offensively by the Clemson defense is the question. I feel as though the Clemson offense will score on LSU in this contest. The Heisman Trophy winner, Joe Burrow, will have his hands full with the Clemson defense. The Fat Guy prediction: Clemson Again 38 and LSU A Hair Short 35.

Disappointed in Wolverines

I’ll make this short and not so sweet. Jimmy Harbaugh is a brutal coach in bowl games! One more note: He also couldn’t win a big game if Michigan fans’ lives depended on it! The loss to Alabama was once again embarrassing, in my opinion. I am also glad that Shea Patterson is graduating. What a disappointment he was in a Michigan uniform! I was excited he signed here, and now, excited he is leaving.

Living up to the hype

The NFL Playoffs were nothing short of spectacular last weekend. The Buffalo and Houston game had more ups and downs than rollercoasters in an amusement park. I have not witnessed a game like that in a decade, and I am serious. How Buffalo blew this football game is an hour conversation piece. It’s how I would picture the Lions being ahead 16-0 and blowing it. The Houston Texans earned the right to get smoked by Kansas City Chiefs next week. The prediction: Chefs in the Kitchen 34 and Texans This Ain’t Buffalo 20.

Tom will stay; mark my words

The New England Patriots were done in by Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans. The Titans’ upset was totally dominated by the Titans’ running game and Mr. Henry, who rushed for 182 yards. The huge question after the game became, was this Tom Brady’s last game as a New England Patriot? Tom is a free agent for the first time in his career. I think he will be a Patriot in 2020, personally. The Titans will travel to Baltimore and face the No. 1 seed and Mr. Lamar Jackson. I believe this game will be closer than people think. The Prediction: Super Star Lamar 26 and Remember the Titans 20.

Monkey off Cousins’ back

The upset of the weekend came from the Minnesota Vikings, who defeated the New Orleans Saints 26-20 in overtime. The running of Dalvin Cook and solid Minnesota defense advanced the Vikings to the West Coast to take on the San Francisco Forty-Niners. The victory also took some pressure off Kirk Cousins, who had the label of not winning a big game. The New Orleans season ends once again in heartache at home with a loss. How do I see next week’s game in San Francisco? Prediction: San Fran plan 23 and Horny Purple Helmets 20.

Packers by a thin slice of cheese

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Eagles, who lost Carson Wentz early in the football game to a concussion. Seattle heads to Green Bay and Lambeau Field. This will be a close football game! Prediction: State Farm Rodgers 20 and Seahens 17.

Beat the Fat Guy contest winners will be in next week’s column because I ran out of space. Sorry! thefatguy@mihomepaper.com.
