No. 1-ranked Lady Cavs get into Valley schedule

FLINT TWP — Heading into Friday’s match at Bay City Western, the Carman-Ainsworth girls’ bowling team was ranked No. 1 in the state in Div. 1. During their match up with the Warriors, the Cavaliers fell just short in a 19-11 loss to Bay City Western. Yakira Hughes rolled a 204 and Kassidy Lord recorded a 202. Shamonica Simon bowled a 199 to round out the day for the Lady Cavs.

On Saturday, Carman-Ainsworth dominated Flint Southwestern Academy, 29-1, led by Simon’s scores of 223 and 236. Lord was able to pick up a 185 to help her squad.

“The first rankings came out Friday during our match,” said coach Gordon Kaufman. “We were ranked first in Div. 1. Hopefully, we do well in today’s match and the tournament on Sunday to keep our No. 1 ranking.”

The Cavs bowl today against Bay City Central. — B.P.
